The Plant Disease and Insect Clinic at NC State University (https://pdic.ces.ncsu.edu/) is seeking to hire a full-time plant pathologist to diagnose diseases of vegetables (e.g. tomatoes, peppers, cucurbits, brassicas, sweetpotatoes) and other select hosts submitted to the clinic. Although this is listed as a “Research Associate” position, the duties of the position are largely centered around service and extension, such as:
• providing diagnostic analysis of samples submitted by clients to the clinic
• clearly communicating diagnostic results to clients and others associated with samples
• performing first detection duties related to organisms of potential regulatory concern
• contributing to, or leading, trainings, webinars, workshops, etc. related to disease diagnostics for various groups and stakeholders
• active involvement in necessary laboratory duties, to maintain the lab’s function
• independent projects and research to be undertaken once primary duties are addressed
