This month’s edition of IT Bytes will focus on the recent work completed by the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) Committee.
One of the top priorities identified at this year’s NPDN IT Meeting was the ability to track samples in the National Data Repository (NDR) that have been forwarded on to other labs for diagnoses.
New software has been developed in the NDR system allows the LIMS to upload a tracking ID for samples that are forwarded on to other labs. This ID will be used by the NDR in reports to indicate which labs performed the diagnoses. This should result in better tracking and reporting of sample data within the NDR and reduce/eliminate multiple record counts for the same sample.
NDR and LIMS are currently beta testing the software, with the goal of an August 31 launch date.
